Remarkably, it’s been almost a year since Uemura Kana put her infamous toilet song up for a proper single release in November 2010. In the intervening time, a digital release of Kimi to Boku was the only musical offering Uemura made…ah, how I miss her sweet melodies and the stories she tells through her songs!

My Favourite Songs is typical of her style, honest and heartfelt lyrics about her journey to becoming the singer she is today. What’s more appealing to me is the c/w track Sekaiichi Gohan, a fun and upbeat paean to her mother’s cooking.

All-around excellent single.
