Long-awaited comeback album…well, sort of. At least in Korea anyway, since the girls have hardly been out of the spotlight over here in Japan.
Less than a year since the release of the Jumping EP, we get a ‘full-length’ album - except there’s three instrumentals and an acoustic version of a previously released song, so it’d be a bit of a stretch to call it a proper album.
Personally, KARA’s Revolution is one of my favourite Kpop albums but STEP is nothing like it. Stylistically, it’s a lot closer to the edgier, less bubblegum sound they’ve adopted since debuting in Japan. Not that that’s a bad thing, but I didn’t think particularly highly of Girls’ Talk and neither do I of STEP thus far - apart from Rider and 따라와, nothing makes much of an impression that seems like it could last beyond 3 days.
Maybe next time, they could spend more than 3 days making the album…
